Positions at the School of Theatre

FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY, SCHOOL OF THEATRE seeks an Assistant Professor in Performance and Vocal. This is a full-time, tenure track, academic-year position.

Position Description
: The successful candidate will contribute to the ongoing development of a distinctive BA performance training program that integrates performance and scholarship, emphasizing the dynamic relationship between the two. Participation in departmental governance is expected and opportunities exist to take part in departmental productions. Creative research and/or Publication is mandatory in order to achieve—and maintain—a national reputation in the field.

Qualifications:
Minimum requirements are a MFA or PhD in Theatre, experience teaching performance classes within a liberal arts program that explore a range of acting training methods and performance styles, including but not limited to, non-Western, performance art, movement-based and experimental forms.  Candidate should have performance experience in professional theatre. Preferred qualifications include Linklater Designated/Roy Hart training/significant professional voice production experience, a demonstrated ability to manage a large undergraduate course, mentor graduate teaching assistants, and work collegially within a liberal arts setting with an additional preference of publications in peer reviewed journals.

Starting Date: Appointment begins August 2009.

Salary:
Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
