Visiting Guest Artists and Eminent Scholars

Every year, special and notable figures in the theatre world come to teach, perform and interact with students at FSU. The school has several ways to support such luminaries including the Hoffman Chair, the Reynolds Chair, and as Visiting Artists / Guest Artists through different programs

Recent visiting artists at the School of Theatre have included Emmy Award winner Anthony Zerbe, Pulitzer Prize winner Wendy Wasserstein, Tony Award winning Playwright Mark Medoff, Oscar winner Olympia Dukakis, Tony Award winner Jane Alexander, Ed Sherin and many others.

Throughout the years, the School of Theatre has had the honor and privilege to host a wide diversity of guest artists ranging from John Houseman and members of the original Mercury Radio Theatre to the legendary producer Joseph Papp to the original grand dame of the theatre, Helen Hayes.

Visiting artists during the 2006-2007 season included Peter Bennett (award-winning director and guest director of As You Like It); James Larson (Artistic Director – Omaha Children’s Theatre and guest director of Still Life With Iris); Jay Thomas (Murphy Brown, Cheers, The Jay Thomas Show); Orson Bean (The Match Game, To Tell the Truth); Alley Mills (The Wonder Years).
