Master of Fine Arts - Directing
The mission of the Directing program is to provide students with training in the process and practice of directing. The program is designed to give students the skills they will need to continue their own development and growth as directors in professional theatre.
The curriculum provides a careful balance of academic classes, studio work, and production experience. During the first and third year, students study at the Tallahassee campus of the School of Theatre, where they actively participate in the School’s extensive production program.
The second year of the program occurs at the School’s Sarasota campus. This experience includes graduate performance training, working with graduate acting students and participating in the Asolo Theatre Festival’s production season. By mixing the venues for this program, the School of Theatre provides experience working with diversified professionals in a variety of environments.
Only a limited number of students are accepted to insure close personal attention and to provide sufficient production experience for each student.
